Drew Barrymore Looks Back On Embarrassing Moment With Johnny Carson

Drew Barrymore may be a talk show host today, but her experiences on talk shows haven't always been the best. In fact, during one past appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, things got downright embarrassing for the former child actress. And, during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, she looked back on the incident.

Drew Barrymore Fell While Making Her Way To The Stage

After a throwback clip of a young Drew Barrymore appearing on a past episode of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson was played for the Late Night With Seth Meyers audience, and featured Barrymore very confidently discussing her love of both New York City and Los Angeles, Barrymore admitted her debut on the late-night talk show was far more embarrassing.

"The first time I was on Carson, I walked up to the stage and fell and went, like, 'splat,'" Barrymore recalled to the host Seth Meyers, via YouTube.

Drew Barrymore Knew It Would Be Only Uphill From There

According to Barrymore, her fall on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson ended up being a good thing for her career. After all, following the spill, she knew that she would have less fear going into future events.

"That was a good moment in that it never can get worse than that. You can't like, eat it in your first time out in national television and not go, 'Well, you know what? Only up from here. No fear and embarrassment anymore,'" she reasoned.

Drew Barrymore Had A Very Unique Childhood As A Working Actress

Looking back at her childhood as a working actress, Barrymore admitted that she was often put off by children her age.

"When I grew up, I was like weirded out by kids because I was like a working, paying the rent kid. I didn't go to school. I didn't have siblings. I was always around adults. So kids would be like, 'Blah! Meh! Meh!' And I was like, [disgusted]. 'Beat it kid, you're being a weirdo!'" she laughed.

Drew Barrymore Is Much More 'Dialed Back' Today

Speaking of how she is today, Barrymore confirmed a lot has changed.

"I don't know how kids are as precocious as they are or how I was," she admitted. "I feel like my life is so full-circle in that I'm much more intimidated and dialed back. When you're a kid, you don't know to filter."
