It’s no secret that Kelly Ripa is a fitness queen but she still managed to surprise her 3.1 million followers on Instagram with her latest athletic feat.

While the 51-year-old talk show host regularly shares pictures of her enviable physique, videos of her dance moves, and tributes to her personal trainer, Anna Kaiser, via her feed – proving just how much of a workout fanatic she is – she added yet another impressive title to her fitness resume with a post uploaded recently: that of a long-distance runner. See below.

'Two Incredibly Average Runners'

On April 10, Ripa shared a picture of herself and her husband Mark Consuelos participating in the 2022 Big House 5K, a run organized to raise funds for charity, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Their son, Joaquin, goes to school at the University of Michigan and they’ve been spotted a number of times in the area.

The post was captioned, “Two incredibly average runners. One Big House!! #bighouse5k,” and showed the couple in their athletic attire as they took part in the race.

The post gathered more than 100 thousand likes as well as comments congratulating the two lovebirds for being #fitnessgoals and #couplegoals, too. According to Prevention, the Live With Kelly and Ryan host shared more details of the event on her Instagram Story, including a pic of her running number. She also revealed that she wore her medal all day but joked, “@Instasuelos doesn’t think I should wear the necklace to brunch.” (@Instasuelos is her husband’s Instagram handle, and he shared the same pic on his feed.)

Her Exercise Routine

Ripa taking part in a 5K may be new news but running is actually part of her workout routine. According to People, the soap opera alum runs once a week in addition to taking the dance-cardio class AKT four times a week and doing SoulCycle four days a week.

She credits her sister-in-law for inspiring her to get fit, saying, “My sister-in-law told me this a long time ago when I wasn’t working out, and she was running, and I was like, ‘How do you do that? Why do you do that?’ And she said, ‘If we wore our insides on our outside, everybody would exercise.’”

'Part Of My Ritual'

Now, fitness has become an important part of Ripa’s life. She told People, “There are a lot of people that don’t have to work out, and I am so happy for them, but I have to work out for my body type. It’s part of my routine. It’s part of my ritual. It doesn’t just make me look better, but it makes me emotionally feel better.”
