Omar Henry Dies: Boxer Loses Match To Gall Bladder Cancer At Age 25
Omar Henry died from gall bladder cancer at the young age of 25, just one week from his 26th birthday. Omar Henry has a 12-0-1 welterweight record and hoped to one day become the undisputed champion of his class.
The light-middleweight boxer was pulled from a televised fight card scheduled for Showtime on November 16. Omar Henry went to the doctor feeling a sense of nausea just to discover that he had only weeks left to live.

According to Yahoo Sports, Omar Henry posted on Facebook in January that he hoped to make it to see age 26:
“I got less than 1 month left until my 26th birthday February 8. Hopefully I live to see it. I really have been getting a lot of support with kind words and prayers from all over the world with this battle with cancer. Thank you and I will continue to fight for us!!!!”
Omar Henry shared that he was receiving support and prayers from all over the world and vowed to continue to fight “till I knock this sickness out.” Omar Henry died Friday, February 1 in Chicago.
