Chelsea Handler has been ordered by NBC bosses to lay off the Today Show jokes. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Al Roker accidentally pooped his pants at the White House and this accident has become a target for comedians like Chelsea Handler. Chelsea Handler has not yet commented on the rumor that Comcast, which owns both NBC and E!, warned Handler and her writers to back off of the Matt Lauer and Ann Curry Today Show jokes because they don’t want extra attention being drawn to the situation where Ann Curry was replaced by Savannah Guthrie.
The order to back off on the jokes allegedly came after Chelsea Handler made a joke based on Al Roker’s recent admission that he once soiled himself while visiting the White House, which read like this:
“This isn’t the first time a TODAY show cast member was in the news about this sensitive subject. For years, it was common knowledge that Matt Lauer spent every morning s***ting all over Ann Curry.”
E! has denied that such a demand came down from the Comcast or NBC bosses, saying that “this is absolutely false, and no such request was made.” Further rumors claim that Curry was booted because Matt Lauer wanted her gone. An unnamed source to the NY Post says the rumor is indeed true and centers around the controversial way Ann Curry left the Today Show:
“Chelsea’s writers were warned to lay off Matt. They don’t want them making more fun of Matt and the Ann Curry situation right now.”
Ann Curry reportedly has been begging producers at NBC to let her out of her contract, which after termination states in a non-compete section that she cannot appear on another news outlet for two years. Rumors say Ann Curry might have been offered a high-profile gig at CNN.
What do you think about the Chelsea Handler jokes making fun of the Ann Curry and Matt Lauer situation at the NBC Today Show?
