2014 Corvette Images Leak Online

The 2014 Corvette C7 was set to make its first public appearance on January 13 at the Detroit Auto Show … only for the Internet to throw a predictable spanner in Chevrolet’s well-oiled plans.

Earlier today, a world-first image of the 2014 Corvette C7 was leaked by Jalopnik. The snap, taken from the pages of a forthcoming edition of Road & Track magazine and showing the car’s front end, is defined enough to reveal what Jalopnik calls a “nefarious smile” of a front fascia.

Meanwhile, the back-end of the 2014 Corvette (pictured below) will be printed on the next cover of Automobile magazine. Yet again, this has been scanned and uploaded by car blogs, many of which seem thrilled by the curves of the C7. Alex Luft at GM Authority writes:

“What we see are the lights, rear quarter panel, and lower fascia – all of which have a squared-off look.

“Just like in the front, LED lights are present and accounted for, as are the center-exiting quad exhaust pipes that have been synonymous with Corvette. And check out that C-pillar flowing into the sloping liftback! Yours truly thinks it’s sexy as all heck… but you may not agree.”

I imagine there will be some considerably bigger and shinier shots of the 2014 Corvette released after its unveiling on Sunday in Detroit. Until then, what do the petrolheads in our readership think about Chevrolet’s newest design? Let us know in the comments.

From the back it looks like a mixture of the mustang and camaro. From the front it looks good. I don't like the rear. Too tacky. The original dual circular back lights were the best.

Probably more of a convergence between the Cadillac and the Corvette.

That ass is so big, busy and full of holes it could belong to a Kardashian. Front is ok though. The Big question is whether GM has finally given the Corvette the BUILD QUALITY that is expected from a $60,000 car these days.

  4. $60,000 is not a lot of money in today's market for a car.

Excuse me Mr. Deep Pockets…but $60K is DOUBLE the AVERAGE price for a new car. As in I can buy (2) Loaded MINI Cooper S, or (2) Mustang GT's, or almost (2) Nissan 370Z's. Really dude…what planet do you live on?

  6. Nice Ferrari/Viper

The Corvette is not a Mini Cooper or a Mustang or a Nissan 370z. Why didnt you throw the Camry in there as well? Also what Build Quality are you referring to? The Vette gets you the most bang for the buck for your money.

think you meant Cadillac and Camaro?

  10. You haven't been shopping lately have you?? loaded Mustang is up around 40,000. And I wouldn't take 7 minis for that vette. How about comparing apples to apples. IMO SWEEEEEET!!!!

Not true. Performance to the Dollar, the Mustang is top of the heap in best bang for the buck. Every Auto magazine publisher has revealed this time and again since the Coyote Engine reveal from Ford.

The front is nice but the rear is horrible!

  13. lol

  14. Looks like a Dodge… squared, cut-off, just hope it doesn't run like a Chevy…

It's about time for them to modernize the design. I was getting sick of the slight changes each time. Something new and radical is what they need to get sales soaring again. This looks like it'll be well worth the money that people spend on it…

  16. We would be better off if all the rich folks drove these instead of Ferraris and the like…Look at Detroit and compare to Seoul, Beijing and Tokyo…So sad we destroyed ourselves.

  17. I always loved the high fender well over the front tires. the curves on the sides and the lines. however they were all on the younger Corvette Stingrays. GM will miss again with this one, seems to me that they had a lot of designs for this car and some were to way out there and some not so good and some were right on the mark. this looks like the same old same old vet like last year and the year before. Flat lines, flat sides, flat tops and the big hugh flat ass end. I feel GM officers that picked the new design were looking at smallest cost to retro fit last years model. If this is the car design for 2014. I'll pass and keep my new Camaro. Wake up GM your falling behind once again.

Bang for your Buck doesn't help with the poorly constructed interior, the flimsy often misaligned body panels, or the horrible service and follow through by GM. There is a reason GM only <12K Corvettes in 2012…and it isn't because it is "Slow", it is because is it poorly build with a level of overall Quality that is unacceptable in a $60K+ Sports Car. Bang for the Buck isn't why Porsche sells every single Cayman or Boxster they can import while GM needs Lease deals to move Vettes….it is because people at this price point expect more than bench racing numbers.

And the cars mention, and YES throw a Camry in there as well, we used to illustrate to Mr.Jankins that YES, $60,000 IS a LOT of money for a car, even today…it is not a normal price for a car, even a sports or sporty car…and people in this demographic expect MORE; if GM doesn't step up and deliver it…once again Corvette will be selling <12 units instead of the 30K+ units they once did when the price point was <$40K

Disappointing! Very excited after some of the concept cars were being shown online. This is a camaro thrown into the corvette. All corvette enthusiasts know there is no front grill like that after 62..Looks like a 53' with camaro rear.Should have came out with ultra modern look that competes with other super cars..ps I'm from flint mi. home of the first vette!

After looking at these pics, Chevy should have bought the front clip of the 1991-3 Dodge Stealth base or ES(with BODY colored headlight covers(or the whole car!) & modified THAT instead! In the 90's a kid thought my car was the new vette! Then I told him it was front drive & to look at the back of the car. lol
Mitsubishi sure got the design of the popup headlites right. Even after 21 yrs OUTDOORS they still work perfectly.
No so on GM's fiero, etc. lol
Hidden headlites are so cool. & I like the $9 non yellowing GLASS halogen headlites too it uses.

I agree Tom, The rear is… too much Camaro'ish
I drive a Vette, I like the Camaro's too, They should have kept their own distinct look. A bit of a disappointment for me and my Corvette buddies :-(

  22. As the proud owner of a '08 C6, I couldn't agree more with most of the comments. The front does look low and mean but the rear with the Camaro taillights and weird body angles reminds me of the ugliest car ever built…the Pontiac Aztek. As with the Aztek, it seems that GM just decided to look in the spare parts bin and cobbled them together as an after-thought and cost cutting measure. Corvettes need those big red after-burner looking taillights.

GM needs to get rid of that chopped off rear end. It does nothing for the car. I loved some of the concept cars being shown especially the silver one that was featured. Cool looking car! I have owned 10 Vettes in my lifetime. My first was a white 1975 Corvette Stingray. Last one I purchased was a Black 2000 model. These were my 2 favorite ones out of the bunch. I didn't like the body style change in 2005. So that ended my Corvette streak. I switched gears and went for a SL550 Mercedes. GM please don't let the Corvette fall by the wayside like so many of our other American made cars. Corvette is and will always remain America's first true sports car! Vette lover forever!

If this c7 comes in at 3000 lbs. and has the 450 horsepower they say, it will be spectacular.forget the coming zo6.

I think for $60k you could buy something that doesn't look like a bunch of old cars morphed into one. I'll stick with my Mustang.

I didn't see a viper in its lines. but it is a definite cross between a gtr a ferrari. I'm not impressed by this as I was by the one that was in the transformers movie. why not build a watered down version of that?

I dont get why people keep complaining about the rear; I can agree that the rear looks a bit like a camaro but I kinda like it. So just keep on hating people just keep on hating

  31. I totally agree. I have owned a 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962 (my absolute favorite), 1963, 1969, kids came Corvettes all gone then kids gone!, and seven years ago a 2000 still driving it. Looking forward to the 2014 but think I am going to be maybe a little disappointed :( otherwise, more than likely a C7 in my garage.

Looks more like a classic Camaro than a Corvette. I guess I'll wait for the C8.

The vette is in the class competition with vipers and 2 seater European sport perfomance cars<not Mustangs and challengers,So 60,000 is a .very good price compared to other cars in its class

I own a c6 too and I didn't like them when they came out, but love them now! Give the C7 a chance. To many negative comments.

  35. A glorified CAMARO and it sucks!

  36. Are you kidding me? The back looks like the devil daring you to catch him. Awesome!

it does look like a camaro but looks very aggressive

  38. Just think about what a tub of crap the '84 looked like when they first came out. This car seems to finally evolved into an awsome looking body. Back in the day it was common to see a little bit of Buick in an Oldsmobile or Chevrolet in a Caddy. My personal opinion is I like it.

  39. c5 vettes are the best high perf. car buy in the world

  40. Thank You GM, you saved me some money, I am not in the market for a Corviper!

Awesome, I shall be ordering one, I'm in my 50's and have been waiting to make a key purchase it was down to the SRT8 Grand Cherokee ( I really need 4×4 and speed lol) but what I see is insane. The Viper and GTR are 100K and this should be priced fairly…however I could pop in the LS9 engine (638 hp) and be king of the road…
