Joe Montana’s Son Heading To Tulane
Joe Montana’s son is heading to Tulane.
The New Orleans school announced this week that it has received a letter of intent from Nick Montana.
According to the Associated Press, the Hall of Famer’s son threw for 2,652 yards and 22 touchdowns this year for Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California. The young Montana has two years of eligibility left and is planning to spend those years in the big easy.
Tulane head football coach Curtis Johnson said:
“We are very excited about the addition of Nick to our program … He was very high on our list for this year’s class. Nick is a highly intelligent player who has a very accurate arm and has incredible leadership skills, and he is a proven winner. We will have a young group of quarterbacks next season so we made it a priority to bring in an experienced player at that position. We believe Nick will have an immediate impact on our program.”
“I was sold on Tulane after my official visit … I was very impressed with Coach Johnson and the coaching staff and I really liked the system and the direction the program is heading. I knew Tulane was a great academic school and I look forward to studying for my business degree. I also hope to help lead the team into conference title contention and playing in bowl games. My expectations are very high and I am looking forward to joining the team and getting started this spring.”
TulaneGreenWave.com reports that Nick Montana may have been high up on Curtis Johnson’s list of priorities but the young quarterback isn’t a sure thing for the starting job just yet. Joe Montana’s son will compete with sophomore Devin Powell and junior Jordy Joseph during spring practice for the starting quarterback position.
