Twins Give Birth On The Same Day In Ohio
Twins gave birth to their babies on the same day in Ohio recently despite due dates a week apart.
The twins who gave birth on the same day didn’t plan to become mothers to babies that would share a birthday like they do, but fate intervened and made the twin births newsworthy.
Moms Ashlee Nelson and Aimee Nelson, both 19, gave birth to sons Donavyn and Aiden on New Year’s Eve and somehow managed to steal the New Year’s baby limelight from the infants born as the calendar changed over.
Ohio.com explains the twins gave birth on the same day but about two hours apart, give or take:
“Donavyn will get bragging rights as the older cousin. The son of Aimee Nelson, 19, and Matthew Bratten, 20, of Kenmore, arrived at 12:11 p.m. Monday. He weighed 7 pounds, 2½ ounces and measured 21 inches long … Aiden will get bragging rights as the larger cousin. Arriving at 2:03 p.m., the son of Ashlee Nelson, 19, and Cody Dilts, 22, of Wadsworth, weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 22½ inches long.”
Proud grandma Marcella Farson says that, while her twins gave birth on the same day, their dueling pregnancies also tended to follow some similar patterns, explaining:
“Within the past two months, me being the mother, I would get a whiny phone call in the middle of the night on what’s going on and I would hang the phone up and literally five minutes later I would have the other one crying.”

Farson insists she didn’t try to get the girls to do things the same way as soon as they became old enough to insist upon individuality but also admits the twin girls who gave birth on the same day wound up more alike than not even when left to their own devices:
“I allowed them to do what they wanted — and they did for the most part. But the funny part is that nine times out of 10, one would come home with one thing purple and the other one would do the same thing but pink.”
The twin moms gave birth on the same day at Summa Akron City Hospital on Monday.

And more teen single moms are out there in the world. Love that government assistance.

Jan 2, 2013
Did they share a baby daddy? No mention of the father(s).
Jan 2, 2013
Beverly–read the WHOLE article. Both the girls are married.
Jan 2, 2013
The fathers are Mathew Bratten and Cody Dills.

This isn't so amazing when Drs. can induce labor.
Jan 2, 2013
I want to know if the babies will grow up to look alike since the mothers are twins or if they'll grow up to look like their dads.
Jan 2, 2013
Wow…they didn't PLAN on giving birth the same day? I must have missed that page in medical school. I was unaware that you could actually plan for a natural birth on a given day, much less with your twin sister who also got knocked up prematurely. Now, I'm going to take a wild guess, but I'm going to say that the fruit hasn't rolled far from the tree and the mom is probably 39.
Jan 2, 2013
I don't believe that the mothers of the babies is married Lorinda. The father's of the babies have a different last name than the girls although more and more of that is happening nowadays.
Jan 2, 2013
No, it doesn't say they are married…it just lists each father's name…since they both are using their same last names..it would appear that they are NOT married to the fathers…
Jan 2, 2013

Jan 2, 2013
No, it would appear they are not married…they just listed who each of the father's were…but since both girls still have their same last names…it would seem that they are NOT married….
Jan 2, 2013
And I know of 2 sisters who aren't twins that gave birth on the same day, about an hour apart. What's the big deal?
Jan 2, 2013
Where does it say the article they are married? It doesn't. It only lists the names of the fathers.
Jan 2, 2013
@Lorinda – the girls still have the same maiden name. The baby daddy each has a different name. I still say a couple more single teen moms is just what this country needs. Let's get that medicaid and food stamp allotment started for them right away. And don't forget WIC and free cheese.
Jan 2, 2013
Really, where does it say that they are married? No mention of a husband or the word married. Even if they were married, that doesn't change the overall message. Having a kid that young is an epic failure. Being married that young is an epic failure. How can you possibly even grow up yourself when having a kid that young?
I've dated girls with kids, and they lack wisdom. They lack knowledge of life. Sure, they may know what "priority" means, and be able to keep things more in order, but so what. Like anyone can't learn the meaning of priority when the time comes? I find women who have kids young to be extremely deficient in many ways. Look at this statement right here:
“Within the past two months, me being the mother, I would get a whiny phone call in the middle of the night on what’s going on and I would hang the phone up and literally five minutes later I would have the other one crying.” – Does this sound to you like anything that should be having a child? Whether it's this person or any person who can't handle their own business, if you aren't mature enough to handle stressful situations and problem solve, don't procreate….because that's the constant in life, every day, problems!
Jan 2, 2013
You're hilarious! LOL
Jan 2, 2013
Next comes the Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, free cheese, and before you know it, another baby or two! It's how some women make a living these days. By starting in their teens, they may never have to work for a living – just keep having babies.
Jan 2, 2013
They look so young.
Jan 2, 2013
You should go to the library and get a biology book.
Jan 2, 2013
Yep what the heck! no morals no married couples just the the "movie stars"
Jan 2, 2013
Is it any of our business whether they're married or not?
Jan 2, 2013
It's sad and downright sick how negative people can be. Some of you can't find a damn thing to be happy about in your own lives so you come to the internet to vomit. Best part of this entire situation is neither of these girls give a rat's ass what any of you think of them. They are two beautiful young women who had beautiful kids. Two gifts to start their New Years out with on a positive note. Unlike so many of you.
Jan 2, 2013
Not all teen Moms use government assistance.
Jan 2, 2013
And what about the fathers? You didn't bring them up, they're responsible to take of that child too.
Virginia – News flash: People have been having babies out of wedlock LONG before the movie stars did.
Jan 2, 2013
…just like the majority of christians, senators, and Supreme Court justices,Pamela didn't read the assignment!
Jan 2, 2013
Heather Bahler — Amen Heather!! But no, some must focus on what they think they know just based on a simple article about twins having babies. No wonder this country is on a downward spiral. We're too damn busy analyzing and commenting on other people's lives with negativity instead of looking at our own.
Jan 2, 2013
Beverly, it may come as a shock to you, but some teen moms (single or otherwise) are in school or start college shortly after becoming mothers. Some wish to provide a good life for their children. They may be on government assistance until such a time as they have completed college so they can still spend quality time with their children. Like me, I'm a single mother on government assistance. I had my first child when I was 19. I am in college. In July, I will have a Bachelor's degree. Upon graduation, I will be finding a job. Then, as finances improve, I will drop the government assistance. You don't know these girls so you have no way of knowing their plans. They could be as you say but they could act as I am. Don't judge before you know the story. It just makes you out to be an ass.
Jan 2, 2013
Using a name like Fred Flinstone because you do not want to use your own name is an epic failure.
Jan 2, 2013
Thank you…..It is sad that people are so negative!!!
Jan 2, 2013
All I can say is WOW!!! I am so glad I am not you!!!
Jan 2, 2013
Punnett square, look it up.
Jan 2, 2013
Not every woman who marries takes her husband's last name. Just a thought, far from disputing because i agree, i don't think they are married but i just wanted to throw that random fact out there. Happy day everyone.
Jan 2, 2013
Oh my goodness, who the hell cares if they're married or not! Look at those sweet babies they're soo cute!
Jan 2, 2013
just because a person gets married does not mean you have to have the same last name as the husband or the wife.
Jan 2, 2013
@Fred Flinstone Having a kid at any age is hard but it's hardly an EPIC failure. My husband and I (high school sweethearts) had our daughter at 19 and we both managed to have jobs we both have our master degrees and our daughter is now in her 2nd year at Columbia! We have been married now for 18 years and very proud of our family, and we did it all with no help from the government or anyone else. You must be a Top Commenter on Yahoo because you have no job!!!
Jan 2, 2013
I got married at 19.. My husband makes good money with a good career.. we own our 4 bedroom, 3 bath house, nice cars, not in a lot of debt, have 2 kids both well taken care of.. but I am an epic failure? No.. I think stereotypes are the failure and so are you.
Jan 2, 2013
Fred Flinstone Deficient, and yet you still managed to condescend to date them? Nearly half of women become pregnant at least once before the age of 20, and I have a newsflash for you… 50% of the responsibility for every pregnancy falls on a man, EVERY TIME.
Humans have sex. It is basic biology. What we need to do is tell women that even if you have a child young, you can still have a career and an education. If we assume women lack intelligence for a basic biological reality, we're kind of setting the stage for failure, right?
For the record, I was married and pregnant at 20. I now have an awesome career, am educated and successful. Young motherhood is NO barrier to success for young mothers. Ignorance from people who judge them certainly is.
Jan 2, 2013
Diego Rosenberg The only thing that matters here is if MY TAXES support either themselves or those babies-Then it is MY BUSINESS.
Jan 2, 2013
they are 19
Jan 2, 2013
What a negative way to explain negativity… (irony)
Jan 2, 2013
this is by far the koolest thing I ever reead.
Jan 2, 2013
I am 29 years old and use WIC! I have a 2 year old and been married for 10 years! What is the big deal about someone using WIC it is a supplemental assistance! My husband works his butt off to provide for us but the WIC is a big help! Most people these days start families early they are over 18 so what should it matter to you! My mother was a teen mom and so was my sister and they never used government assistant! I am happy for these girls and to share something so special with your sister is amazing!
Jan 2, 2013
wow really you sound like a very big asshole and hopefully you dont have kids yourself. you have no idea what it is like to be with child and strees of dealing with it. so when you can give birth then maybe you should open your mouth until then shut the F up.
Jan 2, 2013
And excuse me but 50 years ago girls were getting married at the age of 15-16 and that was okay but now it isn't?
Jan 2, 2013

~Fred…it takes all kinds to make this world go round, doesn't it?
Jan 2, 2013
My daughter in law kept her name whose to say one or both did not do the same? On top of that whose business is it but theirs?
Jan 2, 2013
~Carice, you couldn't have shared it any better. Congratulations to these two new moms, their families and what beautiful blessings they have.
Jan 2, 2013
And I am guessing that is why you are 29 and go to WCC. And correction dear Amie, more people are waiting to start a family because they want to get an education and have job that can provide for the family and children.
Jan 2, 2013
they are both 19? wooow. teen moms enough said.
Jan 2, 2013
Mom, its great that you let them grow up doing what they want, including sleeping with older guys and getting pregnant. Applause, applause!
Jan 2, 2013
Mom, its great that you let them grow up doing what they want, including sleeping with older guys and getting pregnant. Applause, applause!
Jan 2, 2013
Roselee, just so you know, cool is not spelled with a K
Jan 2, 2013
Diego, bio books have nothing to do with it. If the kids look like their moms, then they will look like alike
Jan 2, 2013
Marnie, just so you know, you're a want to be know it all bitch.
Jan 2, 2013
Hey Aimee,,GET A JOB! The kid is old enough for day care,,,
Jan 2, 2013
Now that you're done applauding yourself, does this mother's decision or those of her children put money in your bank account? Food on your table? Gas in your car? NO! So don't worry about what other people are doing as it has no effect on your negative sour life at all. You're just a nasty little woman who has to scour the internet to get her inner anger out. Notice nobody is applauding that.
Jan 2, 2013
The BIG DEAL is I am paying for your WIC!! WE pay for ALL government assistance and WE resent having to pay government assistance for people that are CAPABLE of earning their own way but WON'T!! THAT IS THE BIG DEAL!! Get a job, save some money BEFORE you have the next baby!!
Jan 2, 2013
Technically, they're adults.
Jan 2, 2013
I would have to agree with u Carice I know it's spelled Coolest
Jan 2, 2013
so true Carice
Jan 2, 2013
Oh I'm sure you do RoseLee!! Some people just need to insert themselves into others lives to make themselves feel better. Spell it however the hell you want and have a Happy New Year! :0)
Jan 2, 2013
WOW, I didn't realize Fred Flintstone was such an ignorant person. Funny how much you think you know about a person from an internet story. I see a lot of ASSumptions in your comments. I became a mom at 19, and my son is almost 14. I never received any government assistance, because I always worked and did not qualify…not even for reduced daycare. The only benefit I received was financial aid for COLLEGE…yes, college educated here….and a single mom, imagine that! I had growing up to do, but there are people I have come across in their 30's that still have a long way to go to catch up to where I am. Bottom line is people are different and mature at different paces, if even at all. I will make an assumption myself, and say that you have history with those kind of females, because ignorance attracts ignorance, which later breeds ignorance.
Jan 2, 2013
Thanks and I hope to have a wonderful new year too
Jan 2, 2013
When they go on welfare, it does affect me! It takes money out of my bank account! We will have to provide assistance to these kids
Jan 2, 2013
I guess I missed the part in the story that said they are on or going on welfare. Or did I miss where it said to "comment and insert ignorant ASSumption here"?
Jan 2, 2013
If you went to medical school….I am the Queen of England.
Jan 2, 2013
Hmmm … never saw ONCE where they were on Welfare. I did see however, that one of the fathers has a job! WOW!! A REAL JOB! A roofer! You should be very exhausted by now Marnie. But JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS will do that to you!
Jan 2, 2013
Fred Flinstone – Although I'm sure that you will take great pride in this characterization, you have got to be the most obnoxious, arrogant, judgmental, bag of unbridled ignorance I have ever come across in any blog I have ever read! I honestly hope you NEVER procreate – and if you have already done so – my condolences to your offspring!!!
Jan 2, 2013
my mom had me at 15 and she never used public assistance and she….unlike these girls was a single mom, she worked and finished high school in 3 yr and then went on to college and is now a successful nurse and volunteers her time working in low income clinics so before you judge a book by a cover you may want to take another look at it…. not all teenage single moms are bad people ….She is my hero and yes she is exceptional
Jan 2, 2013
Wow–there's some pretty mean comments here. It's a new year, can we maybe try being a little nicer. I wish these new Families all the love and happiness in the world.
Jan 2, 2013
Wow all the negative comments some people really shouldn't judge before they know the whole story. Best wishes to them all, who knows maybe a future leader was just born.
Jan 2, 2013
neither one married….whoopie…..use to get married first..no morals.
Jan 2, 2013
I don't go to WCC! I went there and I am a medical assistant thank you! My husband spent 8 1/2 years serving in the military and we both have degrees! So thank you very much! I can not work due to medical issues but choose not to be on any disabilty! My child was diagnosed with a heart problem and I can not put her in daycare! So until you all know my life and struggles or the life of these young girls keep your judgements of me to yourselves! We pay taxes just like the rest of you so we pay for our own WIC! Have a nice day and God Bless!
Jan 2, 2013
Some people just don't have a heart! Thanks for posting positively!
Jan 2, 2013
@Loraine Honeywell: I don't know Aimee or her situation, but it is entirely possible that in addition to attending school to enable her to get a better job, she is also working part-time. WIC is available to ALL women who fall under a certain income, and they are either pregnant, or have a child or children between birth to 5 years of age. Her husband is doing the best that he can, so why don't you get off her (and others in her shoes) back? Be glad that the assistance is even there, because there just may come a day when you or someone you know and love will NEED it!!!!
Jan 2, 2013
RIGHT ON< SARAH!!!!!!
Jan 2, 2013
You can be prepared all the hell you want to be financially but you never know what your future holds. You could have the best paying job and lose and lose everything! People are ridiculous and need to get a life and hopefully you're paying you don't ever need any kind of help.
Jan 2, 2013
Thank you Linda! My husband is a conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad he has a good paying job but work is slow right now! And to the others saying things that they don't even know anything about me I did get my degree before having kids! And yes I am pregnant right now with a much wanted pregnancy! A little supplemental assistance that gives us milk cheese and eggs while my hubby isn't getting to work a lot isn't hurting a thing like I said we pay taxes just like you all! In this economy things happen that are not within our control!
Jan 3, 2013
Fred Flinstone: I am a nurse and you are a judgemental piece of humanity! You are not a Dr. of any kind because "real" Doctors would not say or post such a thing!
Jan 3, 2013
hannmack: So what if they are not married?
Jan 3, 2013
Loraine Honeywell : So what if we are paying for WIC and govermnet assistance. This is what Americans do to help other Americans! I am sure that the girls will have to go to work one day to support their children and make themselves have a better life. Not all of use can save money prior to having children! I am now a nurse and got my education on my own. Sounds like you should work harder and pay more towards goverment programs!
Jan 3, 2013
Virginia Jean: If you had any "morals" you would not have posted such a comment!
Jan 3, 2013
Beverly Griffin: FYI, women or families on public assistance do not get more money for having more children! Women and families do not accept this as "making" a living. This type of living is out dated and is a "poor" living.
Jan 3, 2013
Carice McKinney: Thanks for your comment regarding people and "negative" thinking! The negitive thinking people must have miserable lives to post such self rightenous comments!
Jan 3, 2013
Sorry to offend, Kelli. And sorry to correct, Betty. I KNOW of one such woman – the more babies there are, the more money and "help" she gets – from mortgage relief, to food stamp increases, to help purchasing her new vehicle, to medicaid, to free dental care – all the while collecting more child support than the average decent person earns. So don't tell me they don't get more. I've seen her checks increase with each new bundle of joy!
Jan 3, 2013
WIC is a good thing for any child.
Jan 3, 2013
Fred you should try being pregnant and tired and miserable at night and see if you won't be calling your "mommy" Oh wait you can't have children only women can so the only thing you can do is tell us when to have them and when not to have them lol You need to stop judging people. You people are sick. Oh and FYI my mom and dad got married at 16 (mom) and 18 (dad) and they had 6 kids 3 boys and 3 girls and they are coming up on their 36th wedding anniversary on my birthday this June. They started out on assistance but when they both went to school and got degrees we became middle class americans making pretty well and we were put in private schools and able to get off of assistance. I am married now with two degrees and my husband has one and is working on a second and we too got married young 19 ( me) 20 (hubby) and we are coming up on 5 years so basically everything in your post is false. I agree that maybe young people aren't the smartest but to catergorize every 19 year old you see or their situation as a failure is totally ridiculous. By the way I also called my mommy plenty of nights in pain and unable to sleep due to pregnancy discomfort it's just something women do in general…. doesn't mean we're not ready to be parents.
Jan 3, 2013
congrats to the two new mommies in the world.
Jan 3, 2013
You are a nurse Betty? Let me guess, you are one of the many fat nurses who stuff their face with pies and cakes during the night shift, aren't you? I see it all the time, and you know I'm right. You people disgust me. Serving in the health care field, you and the many physicians who teeter totter when the walk because your ass is so fat. You fat pigs will shovel anything for any cause. I guarantee that you probably have celebrated birthdays of people you never even met just so you could justify eating more pie, haven't you?
Second, I never said I was a doctor, I said I was in medical school. Can you read with comprehension? Third, I really don't give a fuck what you think, you aren't my patient, and I have an opinion just like you. You want to leave your opinion, but I can't mine? Who the fuck are you? Oh wait, that's right…..I know who you are. A fat obese nurse.
Jan 3, 2013
Christina, you are right, it does take all kinds of people to make the world go round. If it wasn't for Betty, would wipe your ass when you are in the hospital?
Jan 3, 2013
Christina, you are right, it does take all kinds of people to make the world go round. If it wasn't for Betty, would wipe your ass when you are in the hospital?
Jan 3, 2013
So the kid goes to daycare and she has to spend more money than she will earn to pay for daycare just so she an work.
Jan 3, 2013
A "real" doctor? Hm, seems like many people in this world share the opinion of having kids to young is not good. And many people also share the opinion that people who practice healthcare should walk the walk, unlike the many physicians and nurses who are fat. I guarantee that you are one of the many fat ones, aren't you? And based on your demographics, I would say you are. It sounds like you have sensitivity issues and you don't live in the reality of this world. It sounds like you are candidate to develop an autoimmune problem or psychosomatic problem.
Jan 3, 2013
Let me guess, you also got knocked up young? I guarantee it. Talk about striking a nerve! LOL Also looks like you are sitting at the desk of your meaningless 9-5 job because your kid zapped your future. Peace.
Jan 3, 2013
The fact that you are taking such an angry tone illustrates that you are aware that you did not make a decision to get pregnant either. My entire comment was based on NOT planning properly. Yet here you are taking such a nasty tone? Your entire email illustrates your lack of wisdom and intelligence. Peace be with you.
Jan 3, 2013
Betty, judgemental? Statistics show by in large, people who have children young, as these twins did, do not do well for themselves in life. In addition, statistics also show that those who get pregnant young also have mothers who have also. It's called being educated. Do you know what the means? Furthermore, the first half of my comment was pun on the article.
Jan 3, 2013
Fred Flinstone you're comments weren't the nicest ones either, they were sarcastic and judgmental. If you were actually attended medical school you would know that you can do everything right in terms of prevention and still get pregnant. Nothing is 100% except for abstinence. So unless your a virgin, get off your high horse and stop patronizing because but by the grace of God that could've been you.
Jan 3, 2013
Fred Flinstone your comments weren't the nicest ones either, they were sarcastic and judgmental. Heck you even felt the need to talk about their mother. If you actually attended medical school you would know that you can do everything right in terms of prevention and still get pregnant. Nothing is 100% except for abstinence. So unless your a virgin, get off your high horse and stop patronizing because but by the grace of God that could've been me or you.
Jan 3, 2013
Fred Flinstone you just made a comment about others using a nasty tone. So let me quote you, "Yet here you are taking such a nasty tone? Your entire email illustrates your lack of wisdom and intelligence. Peace be with you."
Jan 3, 2013
finally someone said what I have been thinking on these comments for ages! Thanks Carice. So many people glean happiness criticizing others. Its a bad habit!
Jan 3, 2013
I want to understand why some people feel negative about a good coincidence. But I suspect these ladies are dating the same man even though officially not.
Jan 3, 2013
It's better to start early having children, to make mistakes, learn and mature at motherhood….I waited too long to have children…Now i am a 41 year old female, and i am now scared as hell to have a baby, because, (1. I think i am too old and (2. I don't think i have the patience and the longevity of life left to be pushing a baby carriage around at my age.. If i were to start now, in ten years, i would be a 51 year old, with a 10 year old…I don't think so.. I wish i had at least one baby, when i was younger.. I am so happy for these girls..You immature people grow the hell up.. I didn't grow up around money. I had a strong family structure.. I learned how to appreciate getting out in the world, making my own money.. Half of the people talking, if not most of you, didn't grow up with a wealthy family or parents, or with a silver spoon in your mouth, you were giving some type of financial help or assistance from someone or somehere..So stop fronting and keep your ignorant comments to your self.. GROW THE HELL UP!!!

Half of the people talking, if not most of you, didn't grow up with a wealthy family or parents, or with a silver spoon in your mouth, you were giving some type of financial help or assistance from someone or somehere.. So stop fronting and keep your ignorant comments to your self.. GROW THE HELL UP!
