Kate Middleton Craves Sweets, Eats Shortbread By The Boxful During Pregnancy
Kate Middleton craves sweet foods and is reportedly eating lavender shortbread by the boxful during the early months of her pregnancy.
The Duchess has been suffering acute morning sickness throughout her pregnancy, a condition that caused her to stay in the hospital for a few days last month. But now that she’s able to be up and about, Kate Middleton craves high caloric sweets, which are seen as a traditional anti-morning sickness remedy.
“A lot of women develop cravings during pregnancy and Kate is no exception. She has got a real taste for these biscuits,” a source told Showbiz Spy. “Lavender is said to have healing properties, so it is not such a wacky food to nibble on when you’re pregnant.”
To accommodate Kate Middleton’s cravings, the royal family has reportedly been sending boxes of shortbread, which just so happen to come from her father-in-law Prince Charles’ Duchy Originals organic food brand.
“Kate has been craving scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream,” said another source.“She can’t get enough of it. And she washes it down with a cup of old-fashioned English-breakfast tea.
“Some women eat raw onions when they’re pregnant, but Kate’s joked that she’s keeping it classy. It’s just a shame she can’t keep her food down for long!”
Though many people think that lavender is dangerous to pregnant women, the food that Kate Middleton craves is actually used as a morning sickness treatment at times, Cafe Mom reported. Lavender has been used to treat vomiting, loss of appetite, nausea, and upset stomach. It’s also used to treat flatulence.

She should eat Ginger Snaps!

When I was pregnant with both my kids, I couldn't keep anything down until about 5 or 6 months. With my 2nd pregnancy, I learned a trick…I noticed that if I used a ginger body spray, I wouldn't get sick. It's made by Calgon (Hawaiian Ginger). I also made sure I had gingerale and sprite in the house. Sometimes that's the only thing I was able to keep down.

there you go! …and wash it down with ginger root tea! (the REAL ginger root, boiled in water) Then her nausea may be less. After the third month it usually goes away. I could not hold down ANY food for the first three months and I lived with my head in the toilet from morning till 11PM. I was never admitted into the hospital. They just said, "welcome to motherhood"….I barfed my guts out. All my weight was in my boobs, and my OBGYN kept accusing me of eating Burger King! I was so mad at him. I was not getting any nutrition, because, like I already said, I could not hold down ANY food until my third month into the pregnancy. I wish her well…all that butter in the shortbread would turn me into a tank!

I'm glad she's eating more but shortbread and scones aren't the most nutritious food. Yes, she does need to get some fat on her frame but she also need nutrition dense foods and these are not. Also, watch the caffeine on the English Breakfast tea.

I think prenatal vitamins is all the baby need for now, as long as she is eating and keeping it down. I hope there r no more complications. I can't wait until summer!

Am glad something is helping her. When I was pregnant with my third child, I found coke syrup which I got from my pharmacy was helpful.

The tea they serve is probably the high end, expensive teas and not the ones that are more commonly bought by us. Though, yes she does need to watch the caffeine as too much caffeine has been connected to miscarriage rates, I am sure she is probably eating more then that. Poor thing just needs to be able to keep some of it down.

OMG I am totally there with Kate. I mean who doesn't love shortbread to begin with? It's like my fave! I eat strawberry jam every morning. I'm not sure what clotted cream is but I'm sure I would love it even though it sounds nasty. I'm just in love with Kate! I wake up every morning and ask myself "How can I be more like Kate Middleton?" Good thing this article came out cause this is a great way to start off 2013! Happy New Year!
