Michael Jordan’s New Mansion Has Cigar-Safe Home Theater, 11 Rooms
Michael Jordan’s new mansion is not smoke free.
In fact, the NBA Hall of Famer made sure that there’s plenty of room in the 28,000-square-foot estate for his trademark cigars. Part of the sprawling mansion is a full-size home theater complete with special equipment to handle massive amounts of cigar smoke, TMZ reported.
The report stated that Michael Jordan’s new mansion cost $12.4 million and took Jordan the last three years to complete. Aside from the cigar-friendly theater, the mansion also has 11 bedrooms and a basketball court. Satellite photos released of Michael Jordan’s new mansion show a sprawling estate that includes a main house, pool house, guest house, and a two-story guard house.
Real estate website Zillow posted an update on its blog in 2010, detailing some of the features included in Michael Jordan’s new mansion:
“Plus, the great one will be further hidden behind a wall of trees. Jordan reportedly purchased multiple lots for $4.8 million (below). Combined with construction and furnishings, Lichtenstein claims this estate will run Jordan northward of $20 million, making it the ‘ … most expensive non-waterfront home in the Palm Beaches.’ “
Not everyone is thrilled with the opulent new home for Michael Jordan.
Joanne Davis, a growth management specialist with 1000 Friends of Florida, said the home is “insane” and “a waste,” Yahoo! Sports reported.
“Cities see nothing more than a tax base in these giant homes, but I can’t imagine anyone needing anything like that, except to show off,” Davis said. “This house is going to require an enormous use of natural resources for no good reason.”
Aside from all the other amenities, there’s a pretty good location for Michael Jordan’s new mansion, too. It’s situated in the middle of a very exclusive golf community called Jack Nicklaus’ Bear Club, which is also home to Tiger Woods.

He entertained the world for years to the delight of millions. He has to manufacture his own privacy to live a normal life now and he can afford to build what he wants. Joanne Davis is eating sour grapes. Leave him be.

"“This house is going to require an enormous use of natural resources for no good reason.”.
This guy obviously missed this part:
“Plus, the great one will be further hidden behind a wall of trees. Jordan reportedly purchased multiple lots for $4.8 million".
So in the end, there may well be a net DECREASE in the use of resources. But that requires some critical thinking, instead of just whining from a high-horse.

Tax lawyers primarily help people avoid income taxes. Property taxes are a different matter.
