TMZ reports that Evans tried to buy narcotics from an LAPD officer posing as a drug dealer, though law enforcement officials did not say what drug Evans was attempting to buy. He was arrested around 6pm, and out on bail around midnight. Evans reacted to the arrest this morning on his Facebook page, writing:
“Most ridiculous night of my life in LA so far. At least I made it a year before getting arrested.”
The irony here is that Evans used to play a police officer himself. On the soap opera One Life to Live, Evans played Officer Oliver Fish. He has also appeared on the shows Guiding Light, Fringe, and White Collar, and had a minor role in the film Confessions of a Shopaholic. Though he’s not near the success of his older brother Chris, who has played Captain America in two Marvel films thus far with two more planned, he has worked steadily as an actor.
Interestingly, Chris accidentally outed his brother Scott as a gay man in 2009. Outing celebrities is controversial, but Scott said in an interview that “There was no shock. I didn’t get any phone calls like, ‘You’re kidding.’ They knew.”
“It was in The Advocate where he said it and told my story. When that article came out, he took a lot of flack from a lot of his friends who said, ‘I can’t believe you did that.’ Immediately I got a phone call from him. He left me this message freaking out, ‘Are you okay with this? I didn’t mean to this, I didn’t mean to hurt you.’ I was like, ‘Dude, I don’t care. It’s as if you said Scott Evans has blonde hair and blue eyes.’ It’s who I am, I don’t really care. He was relieved to hear that, but he still comes up and says, ‘Dude, I’m sorry about that.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care.’ I’m glad that he’s comfortable enough to talk about it and he’s not ashamed.”
