Jamie Foxx Slammed By Religious Groups For ‘Lord And Savior’ Comment
Jamie Foxx has come under fire from a number of religious groups and activists for referring to President Barack Obama as “our Lord and Saviour, according to Jam! Showbiz.
Foxx made the controversial comments at the Soul Train Awards on Sunday. Although Foxx likely made the remark in jest, it hasn’t stopped people from criticizing the actor for what many believe was a seriously faux pax.
“It’s like church over here. It’s like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama,” Jamie Foxx remarked at one point during the awards ceremony.
Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights President William Anthony Donohue is one of the folks who are unhappy with the actor’s choice of words.
This is what Donohue had to say:
“Foxx’s epiphany is startling. It just goes to show that even though Obama did not succeed in stopping the oceans from rising [as he promised to do in 2008], he did succeed in convincing Jamie Foxx, and no doubt legions of others, that God exists. Whether God can survive an ACLU lawsuit accusing him of violating church and state grounds remains to be seen.”
Donohue was also quick to point out that President Obama often seems hesitant to reference God during his public addresses.
“The fact is Obama is uncomfortable with America’s Christian heritage. In 2010 he could not bring himself to utter the words ‘In God We Trust’ when speaking in Indonesia about our national motto; instead, he substituted ‘E Pluribus Unum.’ But he is quite comfortable with atheists,” Donohue explained.
According to Salon, Twitter users have had a field day with Jamie Foxx’s “Lord and Savior” comment. Some micro-bloggers have used the website to fire back at the Django Unchained star, a man many believe took his adoration for the President one step too far.
“Jesus is our lord and savior, not Obama! Jaime Foxx is a brain dead Lib who is as confused as he is wrong! Hollyweird strikes again!” one user commented.
Were you offended when Jamie Foxx referred to President Obama as “our Lord and Savior?”

Jamie Fox is a jack-ass.

Blame it on the al-a-a-a-a-a-al-cohol (and a few batches of really bad drugs).

Please God, forgive Jamie Foxx for His blasphemy.

come on all you Christian fuindamentalists…..give him hell. You know you guys are great at passing judgement on people. When the actual Jesus was proclaimed lord and savior, judgemental religious types had him crucified. Now, you want to crucify someone else for making a joke. Every time you intolerant, bigoted liars say something, you are so far from the teachings of Christ that you make it obvious that religion is really meaningless to you. You've been a Christian all your life, and you have no idea at all what Jesus was all about. Go ahead, make Jamie Foxx your latest scapegoat.

So sad to see the Son of God so trivialized. His blood was shed for all, Jamie Foxx too. Is Jamie a father? Would he joke about the death of his child, if that child gave his life for another? Laughter is wonderful, it's medicine for the soul, but shouldn't there be some "lines drawn" that dare not be crossed, even for a laugh? Sometimes" funny" isn't funny at all, but rather "sick". Sorry to see a talented man stoop so low, and one day his knees, along with everyone else's, will bow before the true Lord and Savior! God will not be mocked. Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father – in Him alone is salvation!

juist goes to show how the anti christ can control weak people like foxx.

Oh, religious folks? Reality check:
1) Jamie Foxx is a commedian and made this comment in jest.
2) Your absurd and dangerous religious beliefs are the real problem, not some commedian.
3) Please go, with all due haste, to the backwoods and mountain tops and await the return of your "Lord and Savior" (who will never return because "He" never existed to begin with).
Perhaps then, humanity can move forward into a rational, sane, and just 21st century.
Thank you.

not surprizing

"His" blood was not shed for "all" – stop hyperventilating and THINK.
The "Jesus Story" is a mythical story (like many others) that's not even original with the Church Fathers and zealots who essentially "invented" Christianity to compete with other religious cults that were jockeying for dominance in the 1st and 2nd Centuries C.E.
If your Invisible-Father-Figure-Entity-In-The-Sky is pissed because you "believe" he's being mocked, then let him tell US directly, because "His" self-appointed earthly envoys lost all credibility long ago.

That's just childish silliness.

One thing is certain, OBAMA exists…

Dear America,
Please lighten the hell up! I have heard people refer to Tim Tebow in the same sense, nobody takes this stuff literally. damn!

You will be in my prayers.

that is an insulting joke and it is tasteless.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President.”.

Beck Reber – Go ahead and pray, it will make you feel better about a "problem" for which you have no real solution. Either way: no difference.
Nov 28, 2012
Shenia Pellum: Do you wake up in the middle of the night hearing voices or "seeing visions"? Please seek Psychiatric care with all due haste, as you are suffering from what appears to be some serious delusions.
Nov 29, 2012
Michael Noyb Marx – you know he never existed? How you so sure? Lol I like your last statement on how we can move forward without christ. First of all say if this was all based on evolution. Then who cares if we move forward or not? Why would you care for the future if you and I will never exist again? Please tell me that. It is way better to have faith in christ instead of having no faith at all. The problem about more people becoming atheists is that they are all confused on what religion is right. Just have faith in God and all will be fine. Oh and Jamie Foxx was just messing around people do take it too serious about comedians sometimes. Jamie is a christian too.

Yes, but for how long? Everyone has a book that says when you're born and when you die.
