Anne Hathaway decided to cut off her hair on-camera for director Tom Hooper’s cinematic adaptation of Les Miserables. Once she got a good look at herself in the mirror, the actress realized she looked just like her brother.
According to Radar Online, the actress explained her reaction to seeing the haircut in the mirror after shooting the sequence in the aforementioned motion picture.
“When I eventually looked in the mirror I just thought I looked like my gay brother,” Hathaway said at a New York screening of the film on Friday.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Hathaway lost more than a head of hair to play the role of Fantine in Les Miserables. The actress reportedly dropped over 25 pounds in order to bring the character to life.
In fact, audiences were so captivated with Hathaway’s performance in the popular musical that many believe she could be up a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the upcoming Academy Awards. Given that the movie was released in the heart of awards season, this is probably the sort of things producers want to hear.
