Miley Gets A Pig For Birthday, Helps PETA Raise Money

Miley Cyrus gets a pig for her birthday, and PETA gets some donations to help their work with animals.

All in all, a win-win for the Hannah Montana star on her 20th birthday. Celebrating her big day on November 23, Miley Cyrus gets the pig as a gift from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA.

The rescued pig was sponsored in honor of Miley, who had previously mentioned that she would love to adopt a pig, Entertainmentwise reported.

PETA’s gift cements Miley Cyrus’s status as one of Hollywood’s biggest animal lovers. She has tweeted her support of animal rights in the past, including passing along a message from PETA asking people to boycott Wal-Mart for its treatment of pigs. The retailer has been accused of keeping pigs in confined spaces so tight that the animals can’t lie down.

PETA knew that sponsoring a rescued pig was the perfect birthday present for a young woman who spends so much time encouraging others to help animals,” executive vice president Tracy Reiman in a statement. “From promoting animal adoption to speaking up for cows who suffer on dairy farms, Miley never stops letting her millions of fans know what they can do to make the world a kinder place.”

Though Miley gets a pig for her birthday, PETA also gets some cash, E! News noted. The organization publicized a donation page set up by fans of Miley Cyrus.

Miley gets a pig, but she doesn’t exactly have to worry about taking care of it or cleaning up after it. PETA made the adoption in her honor, but the pig itself will continue to live at Kindred Spirits Sanctuary in Florida.

  3. PEtA is a joke they run high kill aninal shelters and feel stray dogs and cats are better off dead.
Since 1998 PETA has killed more than 17,000 animals, nearly 85 percent of all those it has rescued.

Peta's work with animals? What's that the killing of over 85% of all dogs brought into their shelters. Don't talk from both sides of your mouth, PETA.

I think PETA is more interested in raising money to pay the board members salaries!

  12. what did she do? Help PETA misinform the public of their true nature? That of a money grubbing sudo non profit that is designed to make the board a lot of cash!
