Infant On Runway At Phoenix Airport

KoKo Nicole Anderson was arrested in Phoenix on thursday after she crashed through a gate at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and drove with her infant on the runway. Anderson was arrested on charges of aggravated DUI and criminal damages. Police said that both Anderson and her infant were unharmed from the incident.
According to police spokesman Sgt.Trent Crump, Anderson slammed her car into a partially open gate at the airport around 10:00pm on Thursday evening. She immediately drove onto the runway. She was forced off the runway by police a few minutes later and arrested.
Police believe that Anderson had either willingly or unwillingly taken some mind impairing drug. They do not believe that Anderson was drunk at the time of the incident. An expert in drug diagnosis was called to the scene in order to assess what it was that Anderson was on. Police also said that Anderson was so intoxicated she was unaware her 2 month old infant was in the car. Phoenix police cannot recall any similar incidents where there was an infant on the runway.
The infant was not in any way in danger from the incident and was turned over to relatives shortly after his mother’s arrest.
Crump said of the incident:
“We don’t believe her intent was to harm here. We believe it’s impairment and poor decision making.”
Police are trying to determine how Anderson was able to make it so far with her car before being detained. Needless to say, a person being able to drive onto a runway raises serious concerns about airport security. This follows another scary security breach where recently a jet skier was able to breach airport security at JFK Airport in New York.
What do you think should be done to Anderson after she drove into and airport with her infant on the runway?

First, she should have her parental rights suspended. She should be required to undergo psychiatric testing and drug testing. Her family situation should be investigated to see her general background and last, someone should try to find out how she managed to get so close to the planes. This is a sad way to start motherhood, typical of today's problems with our young adults and the temptations of drugs, alcohol and sex.

I really confused! One minute, I was thinking she was maybe slipped a drug without knowing and then I thought the opposite. I guess I'm confused about the drug.

Have her tested as to what drug is in her, wait till it wears off and then question her as to what was going on in her life. Go from there!

First, take away the infant from her, permanently then take away her license and car keys.

Put the baby in a safe home.,

I like the headline. I guess it sounds better to write that the infant was on the runway rather then write drugged person drove on runway. Media sucks.

Infant was turned over to relatives, probably the same environment the mother was raised in. Its nurture and nature, poor kid doesn't have a shot!

How many croooked Obama bumper stickers were on her 89 Plymouth?
Nov 18, 2012
ok, so from what I read, there is a possibility that someone gacve her something like a date rape drug? if that's the case and she didn't know what she was doing then she shouldn't be prosecuted. but if she CHOSE to take something then take away her kid, send her to detox and then to prison.

1st she exposed a lack in security at the airport…2nd give free air miles to travel anywhere in the world..presumably jail.

First of all we shouldn't jump to conclusions. They have not said what she was on. She is a new mother so perhaps a mixture of sleep deprivation, post partem depression mixed with anti-depression meds led to this. We can't pretend we know what happened.

No, not "typical of today's problems with young adults…". If so, it wouldn't make news. Was she drunk, drugged, mentally impaired, they don't know why she did it. STUPID STATEMENT: "The infant ws not in any way in danger" only of being in a crash…killed. Try: The infant was unharmed (Thank GOD).

Does it really matter when the life of a 2-month-old newborn is in jeopardy?

Prison time.

I wouldn't be so judgmental if I were you. The news story even said she may have unwillingly been given drugs. And she was not on alcohol either, so problems with alcohol have nothing to do with this. Leave this to the investigators to get to the bottom of. Sometimes births are so difficult the doctors prescribe drugs that may make you loopy (I know, I just gave birth 9 months ago). Also, the temptation of sex, drugs, and alcohol have always been around even in ancient times. This isn't some new age epidemic among the young. The problem is when old people deny sex as a temptation and make it more difficult to get birth control. Also, people of all ages abuse alcohol and drugs. This type of behavior is not typical among young parents. I am 21 and I take damn good care of my daughter. I'm not an alcoholic, I don't take drugs, and I never smoke-that's the behavior I see among other parents my age. This mother may very well be wrong, but to say all her parental rights ought to be stripped immediately is jumping the gun awfully fast when you don't really know the whole story.

What has happened to innocent until proved quilty. There a lot of things that could have made her do this and it could no be her fault. Meds. given by a doctor, bad reaction from medicine, post pardum stress I don't know all the facts so I won't judge her until I know the facts but still it isn't my place to judge anybody.
Nov 18, 2012
Talk about being judgemental! I was NOT BEING JUDGEMENTAL, BUT REPLYING to those who were being judgemental. We don't know WHAT happened prior, or WHY it happened. This is NOT TYPICAL BEHAVIOR FOR ANYONE. The writer possibly meant to say 'the infant was unharmed"…

notuptoit2000 is SOOO right in her evaluation of the situation. The planes could have crashed, the baby could have gotten hurt or worse. This woman needs a year without a driver's license.
Nov 18, 2012
For all we know, someone could have slipped her a "mickey" and she might not have been aware that she was impaired until after trouble began. For someone to lose their parental rights if in fact she was drugged by someone else unknowingly is just cruel and adds to her victimization . . . if that is what happened here.
And do not think it cannot happen to you. But for the grace of God go any of us in this insane world.

@jean gray, I wasn't calling you judgmental, I was talking about notuptoit2000. sorry.

"She was so intoxicated she was unaware the infant was in the car".
Are you effin serious?
Her child needs to be removed from her custody & she needs to be spayed.
