According to TMZ, Carter, who is best known for known for her hit 90s tune “Strawberry Wine,” filed for separation from Malone in Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
In the filing, the 46-year-old country singer cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason of the split and reveals she and Brandon actually separated in August 2011, less than two years after they were married in October 2009.

How their assets are going to be divided between them is not mentioned in the petition.
In addition to “Strawberry Wine,” two other tracks from Carter’s debut album, Did I Shave My Legs for This?, have landed on top ranks of the Billboard country charts: “We Danced Anyway” peaked at Number One on the chart in March 1997 and “How Do I Get There” hit the top spot later that year.
The country songstress later released albums on Rounder Records, Arista Nashville, Vanguard Records and Adamant Records.
According to Wikipedia, Carter also was featured on the soundtrack to the 1997 animated movie Anastasia, for her version of “Once Upon a December.” The track was made into a music video and received rotation on CMT.
